국민대학교, 서울대학교 대학원에서 디자인을 전공하고, 임충휴 명장, 이형만 문화재, 손대현 문화재에게 옻칠나전 기술을 배웠다.
조나윤 작가는 화려한 색감과 현대적 디자인에 전통 기술을 접목한 작품들로 국내외에서 주목을 받아 왔다.
한편, 조나윤 작가는 한국 옻칠나전의 대중화를 이끌고 있다. 그녀가 개발한 자개공예체험 키트와 교육 프로그램은 한국,일본,홍콩, 콜롬비아,브라질 등 국내외의 교육기관과 박물관, 문화기관에서 활용하고 있다."

Her works combine brilliant colors and modern design with traditional mother-of-pearl lacquer techniques to inherit as she learned from masters of Korea such as Master Lim Chung-hyu, Lee Hyung-man Important Intangible Cultural Property and Sohn Daehyun Cultural Property.
She also leads the popularization of Najeon crafts in Korea. The mother-of-pearl craft kits and educational programs she developed have been popular and loved by national and international educational institutions, museums, and cultural institutions in Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Colombia, and Brazil.
